About the event
In this four-class mini-series, guests will learn the basics of machine-sewing.
Jogakbo is a traditional korean patchwork craft created to thoughtfully reuse remnants of traditional clothing. Jogakbo is often used to create bojagi, traditional fabric gift wrapping. Often asymmetrical and organic, the bojagi fabric, looks like stained glass window panes.
We will be learning how to create Ssamsol seams (double sided flat seams) by machine and by hand to leave with a one-of-a-kind bojagi curtain to hang around your home.
Week 1: Learn basic machine Ssamsol techniques (seams and ironing) on small practice piece; begin designing your final project
Week 2: Cut pieces and finalize design; start sewing
Week 3: Learn hand stitched Ssamsol technique (use if/when desired for extra design flare)
