Learn this traditional Japanese visible mending skill with Craft Society

Time & Location

Apr 03, 2026, 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM

Craft Society, 569 Union St, Brooklyn, NY 11215, USA

About the event

We will be teaching you Sashiko; a traditional Japanese method of embroidering and reinforcing garments. Guests will practice on scrap fabric before being able to work on their own pieces from home!

We encourage you to bring 1-2 pieces of clothing in need of mending and we will patch them up! Clothing should be medium weight woven fabric, such as a blouse or blue jeans.

Craft Society is a creative duo aiming to make folk and heritage craftwork accessible to young New Yorkers. We host weekly workshops for friends and strangers to come together and create.
